As part of our development in sports, the branch of avgsports named African Vision Football Academy, which organizes sports training for kids, took a step further by taking our weekend soccer training kids, boys and girls, to Lagos for five days of fun programs to meet the developmental needs of children aged 4 to 9 years old. It’s way more than just learning the game of soccer. We aim to build character, skills and confidence while also having a lot of FUN by going to the beach and the rest.
The five days were planned so that every child had something to look forward to from morning to evening. Alongside the football sessions, the trip was about giving the children new experiences, new friends and memories away from the classroom — the kind of shared adventure that helps young players come out of their shell and enjoy being part of a team.
What the camp is about
At this age, the goal is never to produce finished footballers — it is to help children fall in love with the game. Sessions are built around plenty of touches on the ball, simple small-sided games, and lots of encouragement, so that every child, whether it is their first time kicking a ball or they already play every weekend, leaves each day feeling they have improved and had fun.
More than football
Mixing training with a trip to the beach and other activities is a deliberate part of what we do. Time away from the pitch teaches the children patience, teamwork and how to look out for one another, and it lets the coaches get to know each child as a person and not just as a player. Building character and confidence matters to us as much as any skill on the ball.
Safety and care come first throughout. The children are supervised at all times, and every activity, on the pitch or at the beach, is organised with their wellbeing in mind so that parents can trust their children are in good hands for the whole five days.
