AVG Academy
AVG Academy is the player-development arm of AVG Sports, supporting young footballers in Ibadan, Nigeria through regular training, grassroots matches, and character-building programmes.
About AVG Academy
AVG Academy — also known as African Vision Football Academy, a branch of AVG Sports — works with young players across a range of ages, from early grassroots football through to competitive youth matches. The academy’s weekend training programme began several years ago at Oluyole Estate Grammar School and now runs from Liberty Stadium, Ibadan.
Our approach is simple: proper coaching, real match experience, and an environment where young players can develop both as footballers and as people.
What We Do
- Weekend training sessions for young players at different stages of development.
- Grassroots matches and friendlies, giving players regular competitive experience — for example, a recent friendly fixture played in Moniya.
- Development camps, including a residential soccer camp held in Lagos, combining structured training with team-building activities.
- Exposure and development opportunities, in line with AVG Sports’ wider work supporting aspiring footballers through trials and development pathways.
Player Development Focus
We believe development goes beyond ball skills. Our programmes place equal weight on:
- Technical skills — ball control, passing, and match awareness.
- Discipline and fitness — consistent training habits and physical development appropriate to each age group.
- Teamwork — learning to play and compete as part of a team.
- Tactical understanding, built through real match experience rather than theory alone.
- Character development — confidence, resilience, and sportsmanship, both on and off the pitch.
