Oyo state coaches association grassroots units have brought forward the kick-off time for the annual interlocal final to 1pm.
This year’s Oyo State inter-local government final will take place on Sunday, 31ft August 2025 at the Anawal Islam Grammar school, Eleyele Road, Ibadan, Oyo state.
Oyo state coaches association said the decision was made because finals will be played in both the male and female categories.

In the male category, Ibadan Southwest will face Ibadan North and in the female category, Ibadan Southwest Queen will play Egbeda queen.

Road to final

As Ibadan North finished first in group D of the oyo state inter-local government, they’ll now look to toast tomorrow by becoming champions of the oyo state inter – local government.
The Ibadan North LG eliminated the Ibarapa locals in the quarter-finals by 4 -0 and the Ido local government in a penalties’ shootout after a 1-1 draw in regular time.

The Ibadan Southwest, who came second in the same group as Ibadan North, eliminated Ona-Ara LG in the quarter-finals by 3-0 and Egbeda in the semifinals by 2-1.

Athletes today took part in the official screening exercise for the 2025 National Youth Games at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State.

The exercise, a mandatory process for all participating contingents, is designed to certify athletes ahead of their respective sporting events at the Games.

This year’s edition of the youth festival takes a new shape as the activities will be full of dramatic experience.

The first match of the day was a match between Atiba Queen and Iddo Qeen that ended 0-1 in favor of Iddo Queen.

The Egbeda Queen soccer team battled Ibadan Southwest Queen to a 0-0 draw this afternoon. This was an awesome game.

Host local government Ibadan southwest LG squeezed into the quarter-finals with a dramatic 2-1 win over Akinyele.

Ibadan Southwest’s penalty taker missed a penalty as Ona-Ara held Ibadan South to a 1-1 draw after the coach of Ona-Ara was off during the game by receiving a red card.

Ibadan Southwest found themselves 3-0 ahead of Ibadan North East at the break of the first half thanks to Samad, who scored the first goal heading and Waris made the effort by scoring the second goal and not long after the restart, Osiha showed his pace and power to get the third goal.

Shortly after the resumption of the second half, Waris then added his second goal to make the team’s fourth of today’s game from a set-piece presiding from a free-kick before, in stoppage-time, the team left backfired the fifth goal to make the game end 5-0 in favor of Ibadan southwest.

Ridwan Adedeji was awarded the best player of the match between IBDSE LG and Ona Ara LG.

The beast tournament Oyo State inter-local government tournament officially kicked off this afternoon at Anawaru Islam grammar school, hosted by Ibadan North west bringing together grassroots footballers from different local governments in Oyo , which has been one of the community’s most cherished sporting traditions.

Now in its 26th edition, the tournament is widely celebrated as “Veteran Street Soccer”—a festival of passion and pride that has built a lot of great players in the state.

This camp program is designed to achieve different goals, including

Valuing Preparation
The football tournament will help young people learn how to distinguish between effort and ability. It will increase self-discipline and the awareness of the value of preparation because they will see and analyze the difference in their performance.

Resilience
The game will provide an unparalleled model for dealing with disappointment and misfortune. They put in extra time on fitness or work on specific weaknesses in their game with their respective groups.

Attitude Control

All the players learn that a confident attitude improves their performance, and that they have some control over their attitude, hence improving their game and their learning process.

Long-term Thinking
They will learn the fundamental lesson of sacrificing immediate gratification for long-term gain.

Relationships with other players from different local governments.

Football players develop relationships with their teammates. For boys and girls, football is a primary, and, unfortunately, sometimes the sole, way of socializing with others.

Diversity

Our inter-local government tournament project is sponsored by the Oyo state coaches association, Grassroots Association Unity and some individuals such like HONOURABLE ADEPOJU OLATEWAJU(EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN IBNW LG , ALHAJI LUKMAN ADESINA (CHAIRMAN OF ALL PDP CHAIRMEN IN OYO STATE, HON PETER OLAYIWOLA HON COMMISSIONIONER to offer young players, boys and girls under the age of 14, an opportunity to meet a variety of players from different backgrounds. Players from public, private and local community clubs come together in a common enterprise, crossing socio-economic and ethnic lines, so that over time all players broaden their sense of how other people live. The genuinely multicultural environment is of tremendous importance in our polarized society.

This year is the 26th edition of the inter-local Government hosted by Ibadan southwest local government.
This is a 7-day duration, from Monday 25th to 31st August 2025.

Parade and dancing around the immediate environment which was done day by each local government who is going to participate in this year’s edition.
